To book a Telehealth appointment with your doctor, please call Toowoomba Medical Centre on (07) 4635 6111.
Telehealth is a new and exciting way for patients to have a consultation with their doctor from the convenience of their home or office.
Over recent months there have been many changes to the way doctors and nurses can see patients for appointments including face-to-face in the practice (still our preferred way to see patients if possible), in the carpark and via telephone consultations. However, the most interactive appointment, if you are unable to come into the practice, is via telehealth.
Toowoomba Medical Centre is determined to continue to offer ongoing care to our patients through these times and our dedicated medical team have been trained in the use of this online communication tool.
Our doctors highly recommend telehealth for patients who have a chronic disease, are in self or mandatory isolation or for those who would benefit from a consultation without visiting the practice.
If you decide to have a telehealth consultation you will be sent a link to use on the day of your appointment, there are no apps to download. You will need a mobile phone or home computer with a camera and microphone.
Here are a few tips we recommend for patients who want to have a telehealth appointment and also a short video about how to set up for your telehealth appointment using the link that you received.
- Be ready at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment
One of our friendly staff will ring you and ask you to join the waiting room, if you haven’t already, and meet you to check there are no connection issues and confirm your details prior to your appointment.
- Set up in a quiet space
It is important that during your consultation you won’t have interruptions. Ensure you have a quiet space with a good internet connection to be able to make the most of your appointment.
It’s important that you can keep your device still during the consultation, so find somewhere to sit your phone or laptop device so it won’t move around.
Have you tested your camera and microphone? Now is the time to do so.
Don’t forget to make sure your device is connected to power!
- What are you going to discuss with your doctor?
Just like an appointment at the practice, it’s a good idea to have a list of items you want to discuss with your doctor.
Do you need scripts? Make sure you know the name of the script you want and the pharmacy you would like it sent to. Our staff are more than happy to fax your script to your pharmacy, we just need to know the name.
- It’s your appointment time
It’s time for your appointment and you're ready to go. Use the link that was either sent via SMS or email to you to enter the virtual waiting room (or if you haven’t received the link yet, there is an access point at the bottom of this page). Now sit back and relax, one of our friendly staff will be with you soon.
